The Love Machine is an Ottawa based band made up of four friends: Allan Gauthier, Mike Laing, Sean Prescott and Jordan David, who met years ago at Battle of the Bands. They self released two EPs in 2005 and 2007 respectively. Their sound has developed over the course of seven years while learning about each other’s passions and love for music.
They spent three years touring, developing their sound, and toured around the East Coast and most of Ontario before releasing their full length album, Sweater Weather. Just recently the band won $50,000 in the 88.5 Big Money Shot contest which combines money, expertise and radio to launch the next great artist.
‘Anniversaries’ is the first track on the album and is sung by Al Gauthier. ‘We are squirrels and this is nuts’ is another track on the album, which is also on their self titled EP. All the members of the band sing on this album and write lyrics, which is awesome.
This album is a collaborative effort and you can tell it was made with love, dedication and drive. Produced and engineered by Jonathan Chandler and engineered and mixed by Jay Fee this album is a far cry from their EPs.
This band is definitely on the road to somewhere special. I cannot wait to see them live in Toronto at the El Mocambo on December 10, 2011.
