It gives me great joy to be acquainted with strong women here in Hamilton; I call them “Lady bosses – women who run things”. They are real life examples of what women can be and can achieve if we work hard and persevere. One common thread I find in these women is their willingness to reach out a hand to help another sister up.
Lady Boss Thursday is a networking and entertainment night that will take place every Thursday, beginning on May 23/13. It will be a night of networking, but will also include complimentary food, fun and entertainment. It’s a night for the ladies who work hard all week and know they deserve to enjoy life too. A dinner will be served from 7-8 pm., followed by live music by Super Charge and Lil Richie, networking and partying until 2 am. The music will be hosted by DJ Kool (from Sound FM 100.3).
Who is a Lady Boss, and what does she stand for?
- Someone who supports other women big time and provides opportunities that are sometimes difficult to come by, especially for those of us who are entrepreneurs
- Knows there is no need for women to compete against each other because we can work alongside each other and still succeed
- They use the art of networking and that is something all women need to do, we can support each other in so many different ways
- We are all part of the process that will allow young women to take their rightful place in society and not be treated as second class citizens
- Society has pitted us against each other but we need each other, and younger women need the advice or counsel of older women
- Young women need to respect the older women for their contribution to this world and their role in paving the way for them to enjoy a better quality of life
- Older women need to support and encourage the younger women and recognize that our presence is needed whether they realize it or not
- The women who were before us endured and fought abuses and discrimination both at home and at work with the hope that the future generation won’t have to face the same conditions they did
- Look to other women for inspiration, each of these women are different and show strength in their unique way
- Proof that we don’t have to all be loud or fierce or brave to make a difference or to accomplish great things
- We just need to be ourselves that is what the world needs most
