The Fall Home Show and Sale took over Hamilton’s Careport Centre this past weekend, featuring special guests, HGTV’s Scottish interior decorators Colin and Justin.
The Fall Home Show is the largest in southwestern Ontario with hundreds of exhibitors spaced over the three acres of the Careport Centre.
“Considering that Hamilton never even had a home show back 20 years, we’re excited to be able to bring a home show and of course also for our spring show, which is even bigger, we’re able to bring great quality of exhibitors,” said Norm Shulz, general manager for Continuum Productions Inc.
Shulz has been involved in the home show going on five years now, and he says they’re excited about the way things are developing for the show.
“Just last spring we brought in Bryan Balmer; these are guests that have never appeared in this area before,” said Shulz.
This year’s exhibits included a charity auction, fudge vendors, and various cooking demonstrations. Some of the sponsors for the home show included Turkstra Lumber and fireplace experts Chadwicks and Hacks.
It’s not just home improvements and cooking demonstrations though, Habitat for Humanity had a booth at the home show as well.
“We’re at the home show because we really want to inform people that we are here, working in Hamilton, not just in third world places like Haiti,” said Victoria Doidge, Communications Coordinator for Habitat for Humanity.
The home show offers lot of deals and sales on home improvement items, new ideas and some weekend fun for the interior decorator in all of us. It’s a different sort of event for Hamilton, and it’s back in the spring.
The Spring Home Show will also be at the Careport Centre from February 27th to March 2nd. “We’re looking at bringing in some great talent. We don’t know who they are quite yet but we’ll get their signed contracts hopefully in the next couple months,” said Shulz.
