Let MonkeyBiz.ca help you “hammer out” your weekend plans here.
The sun is shining and Hamilton is bustling this weekend with lots of fun events to check out. Let us help you decide where to be this weekend with some friendly suggestions!
First up, Dundas’ International Buskerfest is underway and is here to stay all weekend. Their site promises “organized pandemonium” for the weekend, starting with closing off King Street West tonight for the BIA Merchant Sidewalk Sale and Festival Food. Fill up on delicious festival food for dinner tonight and stay for some incredible acts. Performances are set up at five different circles or “pitches” along King St. and run from 6:30PM until 9:30PM. Saturday features a full day of arts and crafts, perfromances and food from noon until 9:30, and Sunday is full of the same for the final hours from noon until 4:30PM. There are so many fun, delicious and interesting things to see along charming Downtown Dundas for Buskerfest.
I Heart Hamilton will be hosting The Playlist 3.0 at This Ain’t Hollywood On Saturday June 7th at 8:00PM. The fundraiser will benefit Food4Kids, a charity in the Hamilton, Halton and Niagara region that ensures children living in poverty have access to nutritious meals at home by providing them with a weekend supply of healthy food. The event will feature performances by local talent – Haolin Munk, Brielle Melle, The Tallest Tree, Hands & Teeth, and The Medicine Hat. Tickets to the 19+ event are available for purchase at This Ain’t Hollywood and Dr.Disc, they cost $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Check out the write up we did for the event here.
Next on the docket is the Hamilton Blues and Roots music festival that will be hosted in the quaint Westdale area this Saturday June 7th from 10:00AM until 10:00PM. King Street West from Marion Ave to Sterling St will be blocked off to allow for food vendors (and of course, several food trucks), craft merchants, and two separate stages featuring some bluesy entertainment. Hamilton’s hometown blues star Harrison Kennedy will be taking the stage for the second year in a row at the festival. Steve Strongman will also be returning this year and newcomers, 2012 Juno Award winners Monkey Junk will headline the event.
And finally, The Casbah will be hosting their third annual beer fest, Brews N Bands this Saturday at 3:00PM (19+). Back in 2011 The Casbah made the change to carry only independent (or craft) beers. The Brews N Bands beer fest is in celebration of that change, an in celebration of the great live music that The Casbah has been home to for so many years now. There will be over fifteen of Ontario’s newest craft breweries there to share their delicious brews. And of course, and exciting musical guest to close out the evening, Tommy Youngsteen featuring members of Stars, Sam Roberts Ban and Broken Social Scene will be perfoming a tribute to Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young. If beer isn’t your thing, you can head down at 8:00PM for free admission to the musical guests, but beer-sampling ends at that time and the cash bar is open.
Good luck planning the weekend around so many great events in Hamilton. MonkeyBiz.ca wishes you a safe and sunny weekend!
