It’s the Hamilton Fringe’s 11th anniversary! Traditionally 11th anniversary celebrants get gifts of steel, but the Fringe Fest is celebrating by GIVING this Steel Town the most vibrant and dynamic Hamilton Fringe ever! And it really MUST begin with a party.
Join the Fringe Fest on Wednesday, July 16th as they kick-off the 2014 festival!
The evening is hosted by acclaimed local performer Shelley Marshall (Hold Mommy’s Cigarette, The Full Bawdy Comedy Show) and will feature two minute previews of over 40 shows in the Fringe. This is an event not to be missed!
And that’s not all! Municipal politicians get into the action with “The Hats Off Fundraising Campaign.”
Seven brave candidates will be performing scenes from the Shakespearean canon alongside professional actors. Depending on the level of funding they achieve by 11pm on July 15th, they will be cast as the FOOL, the LOSER IN LOVE, or the HERO.
The funds raised go to support the festival’s community outreach initiatives including the Family Fringe, the Youth Access Pass, and the Backstage Pass program!
There is still time to support your favourite! Here is the list of candidates and you can find links to their campaigns here.
Featured will be: Mayoral candidates Michael Baldasaro, Brad Clark and Brian McHattie; Ward 1 candidates Aidan Johnson, and Sandy Shaw; Ward 3 candidate Matthew Green, and Ward 9 candidate Cam Galindo.
There is also a pre-show outside! The Hamilton Aerial Group will perform their aerial acrobatic show outside the Citadel Theatre from 6:45 to 7:15 pm. And a post-show walk to the Fringe Club (the Baltimore House) accompanied by Fringe performers where there will be prize raffles and $4 pints with your Fringe Backer Button!
