“Finding Mr Right” may seem like a misleading title for this political satire starring Stephen Near as Nathan, chief of staff to the Prime Minister and Lauren Repei as Shelly, Director of Political Operations. Together they conflict as to how wash and spin the latest political scandal involving the questionable expenditures of an appointed corrupt senator.
Potty-mouthed Shelly, who seems to lack a moral compass, will do whatever it takes to save the image of her political party including throwing her colleague and former lover, Nathan, under the bus. Nathan who appears to have some personal integrity, on the other hand, is more of an idealist and really struggles with his conscience over how to deal with the latest scandal. Coming clean and apologizing is an option he is willing to consider. He stands alone.
In addition to the personal dysfunctional relationship drama between Shelly and Nathan and Shelly and her newest toxic love interest, this well written script examines an issue we will all have to deal with one day as our aging parents reach the end of life stage.
Directed by Aaron Joel Craig, this fast paced, well rehearsed play has a lot of intelligent, thought provoking dialogue which is professionally executed by the actors.
