Playing with Fire from Dan Moxon’s debut album Lounge Singer is a song that reflects on how reckless and innocent children can be and about how they can take huge risks to have a few moments of fun.
This kind of risk can be fun, yet dangerous and as kids we are sometimes too innocent or oblivious to the dangers of our actions.
All we know is that what we are doing is fun and do not think of the consequences as much.
The mood and sound of this song is upbeat, but when you listen to the lyrics critically, you can point out the more reckless theme it aims to go for.
Dan Moxon’s observations are about human nature, but really the metaphor of fire spices it up.
