Midnight Hours, a new track by Edmonton singer, guitarist and songwriter Cayley Thomas is a haunting reminder of our denial of self and grudging acceptance.
Confronting the truth of the day sometimes arrives in the “Midnight Hours” and Thomas herself indicates, “it can be a self-destructive time of night or alternately…can represent a time of solitude and reflection.”
Between dusk and dawn, the songstress winds her way through a very steady, multi-layered track, a fantasy depiction of survival singing, “a friend I never see, a long apology…we do what we have to do to make it through the Midnight Hours.”
A gripping ride, I recommend a few listens to enjoy the vibe.
You can stream the song on Spotify ⇹ Apple Music now. Her new album “How Else Can I Tell You” debuts May 1, 2020.
