By Ed Wood

Monkey Biz asked local Hamiltonian, Ed Woods to reflect on his time spent in the sky. An avid pilot and explorer, Woods has been flying in southern Ontario, the Prairies and through the Rocky Mountains Chain, (Nevada, California, Oregon, Washington, and B.C.) for over 30 years. Below are his thoughts in words and pictures.

My life changed the day of my first flight.

Flying combined my interest in physics, electronics, mathematics, and creative expression. It was a new challenge every day, and opened up opportunities to view earth from a different perspective. Every takeoff was into a new adventure that left complacency behind.

Flying taught me lessons that went beyond the cockpit: never take the easy route; strive to improve (even at the risk of embarrassment) and work with the many positive thinkers and doers you meet.

While I no longer fly, I am continually thankful for my metal wings and the many adventures they helped me experience along the way.
