As soon I popped in the Maurice Narcisse CD from Eula, chugging bass lines and thumping drums greeted me. So did a buzzsaw lead guitarist, who is also the female lead vocalist with crystal clear pipes.
The CD, to me, seems to be divided into two parts.
Part 1 is Tracks 1, 2, 4, 7, and 8. This is what I refer to as the punk rock portion. These songs are ferocious and kick major a*s.(Track names are ‘Dirty Hands’, ‘Maurice Narcisse’, ‘Honor Killer’, ‘Texas Stampede’, and ‘Wake Up.’ )
Then we get to the lighter section. (Musically; not lyrically. At one point, the lead singer mentions being pinned on the wall. Like she was a doll or an ornament.) Those are tracks 3, 5, 6, 9, and 10.(Their names are ‘Oh Lord!’, ‘Awake’, ‘Bone Density’, ‘Canyon’, and ‘Hollow Cave.’ )
