Wildlife’s On the Heart is a great album. Dean Provinsky, lead singer and guitarist, explains, it’s ‘an essay, a love letter, a tribute to the heart itself. Everything it does for us, how it helps us, how it hurts us.’ He continues that the album was created to, ‘make a little sense of that complex, mysterious, vital muscle.’
The cover of “On the Heart” features original artwork by Dean. You can view various album covers on line, at their website.
You don’t hear many thematic albums these days. The album begins with “If it breaks”, a swell of music and the lyrics, “You’ve got to give it time, because time
is all there is. If it breaks, I’ll give it back,”. The beats throughout the album sound like a heart beating, reminding you of the theme throughout. There are two short instrumental pieces included, which are aptly titled “(Arrhythmia)” and “(Pulse)”. The album ends with the song, “Two Hearts Race.”
I recommend checking out Wildlife’s second effort, “On the Heart”. And while you’re visiting their website, check out their first album as well.
Listening to Wildlife right now. Very meditative.
