Guests walked the red carpet and stepped back into “swinging” London when they attended the London Calling Fashion Show, a fundraiser (with a decided emphasis on FUN) for Nelson Youth Centres and the Rotary Club of Burlington Central, on April 30/15 at the beautiful Burlington Golf & Country Club. The 150 people in attendance enjoyed delicious British themed appetizers, such as fish and chips, mini shepherd’s pies, scones and strawberries, and trifle, and complimentary British libations.
The night featured a live auction, and guests also had the chance to buy raffle tickets to win the grand prize, a 2015 Mazda 3 (and two secondary prizes of $500 each), as well as raffle tickets to win the “Crown Jewels”, a diamond encrusted tennis bracelet.
Later everyone enjoyed a fashion show featuring the latest spring and summer fashions by local retailers including: Joelle’s; Mirella’s Ladies Boutique; The Oyster; Jeff’s Guyshop; Pippa & Pure; Forever Summer; Blackbird Studios; Lissa Hill Leather; Scrivener’s Men’s Wear; and Specs on Pearl. Models from Vogue Models and Talent Hamilton/Toronto did a fabulous job of showing off the fashions.
The monies raised will go to help the work of the Nelson Youth Centres, which includes services that target children who are experiencing moderate to severe emotional, social, behavioural or learning problems, which results in difficulties for them at home, school and in the community.
