Who doesn’t love musical theatre?
A tale of a Princess and her widowed father, the King, a naive Prince and his evil self-centred Queen mother, a Fairy and a pony Sprite named Fluffer constitute the cast. Set the story in the Kingdom of Porn and you have a very adult take on the classic children’s fairy tale.
Presented with live music and fun, campy vocals that the first rate cast elevates to harmonious peaks, the show is absurd, yet completely familiar. It blends pop-porn culture, where the fist comes before the kiss and Facebook answers all, with the traditional throws of love at first sight and impossible familial circumstance. The audience is both captivated by the authentic, talented performers and shocking use of the phallus. This production is sure be be a hit at this year’s Fringe and leave us wondering where exactly we fit along the continuum of heartbreak-induced prudery to sexual desensitization.
