If you love country music you are in for a wild ride as the Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) brings Country Music Week to Hamilton with four days of workshops, free musical performances and fun fan events all leading up to the CCMA Awards show on Sunday, September 9th at FirstOntario Centre.
Starting in 1977 Country Music Week is an annual event that increases awareness and exposure for Canada’s country music artists.
All of Hamilton will be embracing Country Music Week with many events around town hosted in local bars and restaurants!
When Country Music Week hits the Hammer here is what you can expect:
- A music festival, including a Songwriters’ Series
- Talent showcases
- Full-day FanFest
- Legends Show that pays tribute to Canada’s most cherished country artists, and a cabaret party
- Industry conference to honour people working behind the scenes, with educational workshops and seminars, networking receptions, and awards ceremonies
- CCMA Awards Show: a two hour televised event
Many events for fans are taking place including the CCMA Songwriters Series on September 6, 7, and 8th, and the SIRIUSXM Top of the Country Showcase, a free event at the CCMA Fan Village, located in front of FirstOntario Centre at Market and Bay Streets, featuring rising country stars.
The CCMA Legends Show takes place on Friday, September 7th with performances by Terri Clark, Patricia Conroy, Charlie Major, Michelle Wright and many others.

Of course the jewel in the crown of the whole week and what everyone is waiting for is the 2018 CCMA awards, taking place on Sunday, September 9th from 8:00 pm. to 10:00 pm.
Hosted this year by Shania Twain the Awards Show brings together fans, artists and industry to enjoy Canadian country music’s most exciting night. As a tribute to the past year, the two-hour celebration features performances and appearances by some of Canada’s most amazing country stars and announces winners in eight award categories.
Canadian Country Music Association will be paying tribute to the queen of country, Shania Twain with performances by three-time CCMA Female Artist of the Year Jess Moskaluke, two-time CCMA Award winner Kira Isabella and 2015 CCMA Rising Star winner Madeline Merlo. The tribute will kick-off Canada’s biggest night in country music live from FirstOntario Centre on CBC and cbcmusic.ca/ccmas.
