It Sucks is a song about something most of us can relate to: falling in love when we do not want to. The band behind the song, Hamilton, Ontario’s Another Crush, is mostly inspired by 90’s rock and pop. This is made clear in most of their songs, especially the one mentioned here.
It Sucks is a very relatable and “feel good” type of song while also touching on the harder message of feeling heartbroken and wanting to be alone when your heart is telling you the opposite. The song also breaks some rules: by having three climaxes all in one song when there are typically less. The music video gives a more in depth and visual look at what the artists wanted to communicate, with scenic views and time-lapse clouds and beautiful blue skies.
Overall, Another Crush did a great job of communicating the difficulties of trying to follow what your mind tells you when your heart is doing the opposite.
