An appreciative crowd attended one of Hamilton’s most long awaited in person events on June 3/22. After a hiatus of three years Sippin at the Dock of the Bay, a fundraiser in support of the David Lane Youth Success Fund and the John Howard Society of Hamilton, Burlington and Area was back!
This year’s theme was “The Best Kitchen Party on the Bay” and this was reflected in the décor, the musical guests for the evening (Fiddlestix) and the spirit of fun that was evident to all who attended.
There was something for everyone this year, including amazing silent auction items (I had to buy a few!), and exciting raffles for a diamond ring and a cooler of wine and spirits. Obviously I was hoping to win the cooler of wine and spirits…but maybe next year!
Delicious food was provided by chef Jonny Blonde, with options such as the Peachy Blonde (chicken, brie, and peach chutney), Beefy Blonde (pulled braised beef), Porchetta, and Veggie Love. All meals were served with a delish kale salad and potatoes. And after devouring Jonny’s goodies the crowd worked off the calories by dancing to an amazing performance by extreme fiddle rock group Fiddlestix.
As the crowd enjoyed the evening nature provided a perfect backdrop, a colourful sunset over Macassa Bay.
The date for next year’s event has already been set! Add Friday, June 2, 2023 to your calendar and get ready to attend with your friends to help support marginalized and financially at risk youth and adults in our community, as they work towards positive changes in their lives.
